Beyond your 225 2-voice, we’ll work hard to get you up to 200 jury charge and 180 literary speeds.

Leave SimplySteno Reviews – Total Structure – “I don’t have to put my own speedbuilding schedule together. Every minute is planned out. Marc has picked out the court reporting drills, dictations, order, everything. I just have to sit in the chair and follow along. There’s not a second of wasted time.”
Camille Connell

Total Feedback – “I get to see my tests and errors along with Marc’s notes. I have a better idea about what to work on, because now I can see where I’m making my mistakes.”
Georgann McDonald

Total Guidance – “I find the SimplySteno court reporting program to be proactive. There’s a theme for each day, and it always seems to address something I’ve dealt with. I guess many issues are common, and Marc doesn’t wait till they come up to talk about them.”
Maureen Hepper

Total Support – “Marc doesn’t just tell me to “practice more” when I’m having problems. He gives me concrete things to do that target my writing/mental concerns.”
Betty Kaplan

Total Access – “I know I can reach Marc whenever I need him. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t sleep!”
Carolyn Mulderig

Total Relevance – “I don’t need a degree from court reporting school. I just need to work on my writing speed. That’s Marc’s goal for me. I am not required to take courses that have no relevance to my court reporting goal. He puts the focus on the steno machine.”
Lois Parks

To be clear, SimplySteno is not a court reporting school. We won’t teach you how to write on your steno machine. You learned that in Steno Theory. SimplySteno will help you write faster…and smarter. After spending many years teaching within the court reporting school system, I was very determined to get out of it. Most court reporting schools charge over $1000 a month. Most court reporting schools have a graduation rate lower than 8%. Most court reporting schools force students to take academics they don’t need, just so the students will earn units and remain in good standing with financial aid (even though we all know the focus should be on the steno machine). SimplySteno is a speedbuilding course designed to improve your existing ability on the steno machine. Whether you’re writing at 60 or 200, SimplySteno has something to offer steno machine writers.

If you’ve been researching court reporting online, you’ve seen there are many different court reporting programs and court reporting schools available to you. I encourage you think about what you need in a court reporting course, then ask questions. I’m certain you will discover that SimplySteno is not just another online court reporting program. We differ in many ways.

We will not present you with a certificate or degree at the end of our course. Is that your goal – to receive a certificate of completion or degree? Keep in mind that not one state requires you to get a degree in order to work as a court reporter, captioner or CART provider. Not one. The machine is the thing – writing fast and with accuracy. And that’s our goal for you – to hone your skills and raise your value.

Some states do require steno machine writers to pass the RPR exam before being eligible to work as a court reporter. Be clear – anyone who is a member of the NCRA is eligible to take the RPR exam. You don’t even have to be enrolled in a court reporting school, despite what many programs will tell you. And if your state requires the RPR license to work, you don’t even need to join NCRA to take the exam (though I would strongly suggest joining).

SimplySteno was designed to get you to 225 2-voice and beyond. We’ll make those “fast talkers” sound slow. Beyond your 2-voice, we’ll work hard to get you up to 200 jury charge and 180 literary speeds.

As you look through our site, you will see that the SimplySteno court reporting program is not for everyone. It requires dedication, time and trust. We will hold up our end of the agreement – we only ask that you hold up yours. We don’t want to see you wasting your money or time. Before going any further, make sure you’re qualified to start our program by clicking here.

Students must be at a minimum writing speed of 60 words per minute to start our program, which means you must have taken court reporting theory before taking a program like SimplySteno. Repeat – this is NOT an entry-level program. This is a speedbuilding program designed to improve your skills on the steno machine. If you are looking for a theory program, we are proud to refer students to StarTran Theory! They teach a wonderful theory that emphasizes realtime writing from day 1.

It’s important to do your research! Improving your steno skills can be time consuming and expensive, so make sure you look into all your learning options.

Court Reporting Degrees – How many states require a court reporting degree (or any kind of degree) to work? Zero. Call some court reporting agencies and ask if a degree is required to be hired. Nope.

Cost Reference – You can expect to pay between $20,000-$55,000 in a traditional court reporting school.

Some court reporting schools offer a “lite” version of their full programs for students who have run out of financial aid. Keep in mind that these are the same schools that max out your financial aid…and now are looking for a way to continue bringing in your money. Why settle for a trimmed-down version of a teaching program?

Academic Courses – We don’t force you to take classes you don’t need. Most court reporting schools require you to take irrelevant academics in order to ensure that you attain units to qualify you for financial aid. That’s great for schools, but often a waste of time for those trying to improve their speed on the court reporting machine.

Time – Most students don’t have extra time to waste each day. Yet many court reporting schools spend hours a week in live classes talking about the weekend, what’s for dinner, what they did last night, etc. We make every minute of your steno day count.

Tests Returned – If you’re not able to see your errors, how can you work on them to improve? SimplySteno returns graded tests in an average of 4 days. Not just passes – all tests.

Student Feedback – The best way to determine if a court reporting program is worth your time are the opinions of those taking it. Make sure your court reporting program lets you speak with current or former users. And make sure testimonials have last names. Why would someone who is proud of their program – proud enough to give a testimonial – not allow their last name to be shown?

Do your research. We’re certain that once you ask questions and get feedback, you’ll find that SimplySteno is a great option to fulfill your speedbuilding needs.

Simplysteno is everything I could ask for. This program is well structured. As I decided to move forward after my school closed, I chose Simplysteno. The material is challenging, and actually more challenging than most schools out there. I have the opportunity to practice from home on my own schedule, and the owner Marc, is always available to answer my questions, and give me the feedback I need to better myself in court reporting. I am happy with Simplysteno, and I don’t regret it one bit as I am currently going for my 225s!!

This is like the most kick-butt court reporting student tutoring program. The alternative for me was aimless practice to dictation with little results despite more time and frustration put into it than I did with this program. SimplySteno is the opposite of aimless, fruitless practice. Any amount of time I put into the program yielded results, whether it was confidence or better technique. Just having the work already done for me, a daily practice plan laid out, was worth every penny. It’s so simplified compared to “find some Q&A material to practice to and work on it.” What material should I work on? How should I practice? Is there an area I really need to work on? What am I doing wrong? I didn’t have to ask Marc any of those questions. I felt like a broken record, having to ask that to teachers repeatedly with no solid response. His program let me feel like I wasn’t a failure at court reporting. I enjoyed practicing again!
I started his program when I was absolutely bombing Q&A tests at 200 wpm (I’m talking 160 average drops/mistakes each test) my Spring 2016 semester. I passed the July 6th CSR exam after passing my qualifiers at school.
If you want an easy way to build speed and get out of school…well, I don’t know of one. His program requires you to put in the work. Every step should be followed. I will repeat, though, that I spent far less time practicing with his program alone than I did during school/outside of school and had a LOT more to show for it. If you want the time and work you put in to reflect positive results (who doesn’t?), you will reap what you sow. Put everything you have into each take you write/read the notes of/transcribe. Leave frustration and nerves behind. His program has solutions for those problems as well. With the repetition, his techniques will become part of your regular practice routine. Just do it! Lol!

Best practice ever!!! Not a single minute wasted. Powerful tool. Well structured and interesting. Marc offers the best finger drills, and they stick in your brain. I wish I had discovered it earlier, but it is never late. Every lesson takes you to a new, higher and improved skill level.

SimplySteno is an amazing Court Reporting program for students that are looking for that extra push. Due to my school closing, and not many programs left in my state, this was a perfect program for me. Being that it is cost effective and user friendly, you really can’t beat that. I was a little skeptical at first but when my friend from school signed up and said she loved it, I was bought. This program is well structured and Marc is always there to help you in any area you are having a problem with. He’s not a beat-around-the-bush kind of guy either. He tells you what areas you should be working on and always wants you to transcribe every test even if you don’t think you got it. Not to mention you get to work from home. There are a plethora of material that you can work on besides your daily lessons. I love this program even though it’s dense. In the long run, I know this is what I need in order to become that 225 certified reporter.

This program has everything I need. I love the structure and the practice time does not feel wasted at all. Marc is awesome, and he is very quick at getting back with you when you have questions. It is also way more affordable than what I was doing before. I will continue to use this program in order to pass my RPR.

GREAT program! You can’t beat the price. Marc is very involved with his students and in helping them succeed. Daily lessons that are very structured and explain how to practice. The material is dense, which I feel helped me pass my certification exams!
